Vaisey Residence – Contemporary Outdoor Space Design with Pool and Fan-Shaped Sunlounge in Dudley

The Vaisey Residence presented a unique opportunity to create a contemporary outdoor space on a challenging sloped block in Dudley. The clients, two working professionals seeking a luxurious and low-maintenance lifestyle, had just completed a stunning internal renovation of their split-level home. Referred by their architect and impressed by our portfolio, they engaged us to translate their vision into a functional yet elegant outdoor environment.


Our scope included designing a new driveway and side garden planting that complemented the modern architecture, while ensuring a low-maintenance approach. The backyard features a long swimming pool with a custom cantilever fan-shaped sunlounge, creating a striking focal point and resort-style appeal. Adjacent to the pool, a fire pit seating area for 5–6 people is shaded by an Ivory Curl tree, adding character and intimacy to the space.

We carefully incorporated screening plants along the rear boundary to enhance privacy and accentuate the luxurious ambiance. A water feature was installed on the higher slope, welcoming visitors as they move up from the lower side of the property. Behind the garage, we designed two rows of kitchen gardens to accommodate the couple’s love of cooking and fresh produce.

Despite the challenges of the sloped, irregular block, we successfully maximised functionality and aesthetics. The concept design took three weeks to complete, followed by a three-month DA and CC approval process, with construction taking approximately 15 weeks due to slope and access considerations. The collaboration with the clients was seamless, and they were thrilled with how every element came together, creating a sophisticated, contemporary outdoor living space that complements their newly renovated home.
